My country was attacked today
I'm still in shock and awe
Such devastation took our land
Despite security and law
Terrorists took many lives
They also gave their own
I wonder what these people thought
Such rage cannot be known
I'm proud to be an American
Brave and strong and true
Not killing others senselessly
For in this land we grew
God took those victims home with him
Gathered them to His breast
We know not why they had to die
But know they are at rest
To friends and family left behind
My love and prayers flow free
We'll come together one and all
